Africa's potential for international trade and investment is vast, but the challenges of deforestation and climate change threaten its future. At Matenda Coffee Farms Limited, we are proud to be part of the solution. We are thrilled to announce that we have been selected as one of the top 16 companies in the Land Accelerator Africa program, a prestigious initiative aimed at promoting nature-based solutions to these pressing challenges.
The Land Accelerator Africa program, which is contributing to AFR100's goal of restoring 100 million hectares of land across the continent by 2030, provides training and mentorship to boost companies' business management skills, communications, and investment readiness. This year's cohort consisted of 103 locally led, market-driven green businesses from 26 African countries, and we are honored to be among the top performers selected for further customized mentorship and the Land Accelerator Africa Summit in Lilongwe, Malawi.
This program, now in its fifth cohort, has already made asignificant impact. With 293 graduates across all cohorts, these entrepreneurs have placed about 260,000 hectares of land under restoration in Africa and engaged nearly 449,000 smallholder farmers.
At Matenda Coffee Farms Limited, we are committed to making a difference in our community and beyond. We are inspired by the diversity of businesses in this year's cohort, with 56% founded by women and 53% led by youth. Together, we are working towards a more sustainable future while advancing restoration in our communities.
